Gladys Frances Gilliam Vaughan, 84, of Lee County, VA, born on November 25, 1925 went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Suthers Vaughan, Jr.; her parents, Coy and Gertie Gilliam of Lee County, VA; her five brothers, Benny Gilliam, Jim Gilliam, Guy Gilliam, Ralph Gilliam and Lee Roy Gilliam; her two sons, Donnie Ray Vaughan of Lee County, VA and Michael Otis Vaughan of Lee County, VA; her great grandson, Tyler David Vaughan of Kingsport; as well as two sons-in-law, Gerald Roger Banks of Church Hill and David Jon Poser of Church Hill, TN.
She is survived by her daughter, Lana Poser of Church Hill, TN and grandson, Jonathan Vaughan and wife, Tonya of Kingsport; her son, Glen Vaughan and wife, Sarah and granddaughter, Tasha of Wise County, VA; her son, Gene Vaughan and wife, Teresa of Duffield, VA and grandson, Suthers Vaughan of Sacramento, CA, a granddaughter, Violet Vaughan of Duffield, VA; her son, Ronald Vaughan of Blountville, TN; her daughter-in-law, Clora Vaughan and grandsons, Anthony Vaughan and Nathan Vaughan of Big Stone Gap, Va, her grandson, Chris Thomas and wife, Monica of Knoxville, TN; her grandson, Sean Thomas of Bluff City, TN; her grandson Michael Vaughan and wife, Alicia of Bristol, TN; her granddaughter Stephanie and her husband, Jeffery Johnston, Jr. and many great grandchildren; as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.
Gladys passed away at Select Specialty Hospital of Bristol, TN which all of her family want to send their deepest thanks for their remarkable care and compassion.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7 pm on Wednesday July 28, 2010 at Scott County Funeral Home, 260 US Highway 23 N, Weber City, VA.
A service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Stephen Caldwell officiating. Music will be provided by Jennie Page.
A Graveside service will be held 2 pm on Thursday July 29, 2010 at Vaughan Cemetery on Powell Mountain, (Panoramic Lane) in Duffield, VA. Family and friends who wish to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 pm to go in to procession. Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
